A tankless water heaters are an ideal means to lower monthly energy bills. These hot water heaters use up to 50% less energy than the standard hot water heaters. While they will save energy and money, they can be somewhat complicated to install. The installation process is not suggested for those who are unable to use or acquire power tools and a soldering iron.

First the individual should get all the tools needed for the job. These will include one of the many varieties of tankless water heaters, a garden hose, pipe cutter, propane torch, 1/2 inch copper pipe, 3/4 inch copper pipe, a solder, and some soapy water. It is then time to turn off the water entering the house, and the line to the hot water heater.

The next step is to drain the hot water heater. Attach the garden hose in order to do this. One will then need to stop the energy supply to the heater. This will entail either closing the gas valve, or unplugging the electric supply. Then it is time to remove the old hot water heater, and dispose of it.

Now it is time to deal with the tankless hot water heater. Take it out of the box. Do a soft read through all of the instructions before attempting installation.make sure all the materials needed are accounted for and present. Then decide on where the unit will be installed. Mount the unit in the designated spot and install the waterlines. A solder will be useful in sealing all attachments to ensure no leakage.

Then it is time to reattach the power source. If it is natural gas, reattach the line in the designated spot. If the heater is electric, make sure that everything is secure and grounded before throwing the power switch to on. The gas variety tankless water heaters will need to have the pilot lit soon after the lines are turned on.

The last step will be to ensure that if natural gas is being used as the power source, there are no leaks. Use a mixture of water and dish detergent to put on the line and around the connection to the water heater. Once the gas is on, if bubbles arise from the line or connections there is a leak. If tightening the connections does not rectify the leak, contact a local plumbing professional as soon as possible.

It is very important for those homeowners who depend on gas to have reliable Gas line installation. Some people use gas in every facet of their lives. They may cook with gas, heat with gas and and rely on gas for their hot water. Individuals should be able to rely on gas line contractors to make their safe gas line installations their daily priority ,and should be contractors that individuals should be able to rely on to do the job professionally and well.

There are a few companies that one can use for these installations ,but getting one that will do the job the way that it needs to be done is not always easy. Relying on contractors that are useful and experienced is important. The installation should be done right whether an individual homeowners needs are large or small.

Considering something as important as a gas line it is especially important to get a professional company to get this done. Whether an individual is getting installation of a gas dryer, range, water heater or some other sort of gas installation, it is important to have a company they can rely on, and will do the job expediently and efficiently.

Whether you need installation of propane or natural gas systems getting the right professionals to do the job is important. One should be fully confident that the professionals they hire will be able to safely do the job at hand. The individuals you hire should be experienced with various types of installations and should know what to do if their is a gas leak or an issue with the line. Professional installers should be able to deal with any potential problems that a gas line installation could present and should also be able to take care of any consumer concerns or issues.

Individuals who are looking for a professional company to do their Gas line installation have a number to choose from if they are in a major city, just remember to look for the company that is experienced, and insured with all types of installations, and the issues they could present. The choice is ultimately the consumers of course, but finding an experienced installation company is important. Remember a gas line is a convenience, but can be a headache as well. So don’t skimp on money when it comes to installation. Remember the team you hire should be licensed bonded and insured, and competent to do the job at hand.

Weak water pressure is a relatively common household problem that can have serious ramifications on everyday tasks. While the end result of inadequate water is always the same, weak water pressure can result from a number of potentially serious problems. Therefore, fixing the problem first relies on correctly diagnosing the symptom, namely by measuring household water pressure.

In order to perform this task most efficiently, it is first necessary to run through a number of preliminary tasks. At the simplest level perhaps, eyeballing the water supply leaving the faucet is enough to determine a few important facts. If only one of the fixtures exhibits signs of low water pressure, it is quite possible that the pipe leading directly up to it is experiencing some sort of blockage or leak. Examining the pipes under a sink, for example, should display any signs of a leak, but it is probably best to measure incoming water pressure before acting on the assumption of a blockage. Secondly, if the water pressure varies with the temperature of water, there may be a problem with the water heater.

Assuming that the low water pressure is constant throughout, it is then necessary to determine if the water comes from a well or a municipal water supply. In most urban and suburban areas, the latter is more common, but if one experiences a lack of water from an underground water supply, the well may have run dry. Checking the well pump meter should display the nature of the flow coming out of the well. If this flow is constant, then a leak is almost certainly causing the weak water pressure.

On the other hand, if the water comes from a municipal water supply, and there are no obvious leaks throughout the house, it may be possible that the insufficient water supply is the fault of the distributor. To check for this problem, one would first turn off the water at the entry to the building. Listening at the pipe for a characteristic “drip-drip” noise, or worse, would reveal signs of a leak. If this is not the case, measuring the actual water pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI) would quantify the weak water flow. This can be done by turning the water back on, and ensuring that all faucets and spigots throughout the building are turned off. If there is an incoming pressure regulator, ensure that it is set wide open, and attach a common pressure gauge to an outdoor spigot much like one would a hose.

Fully open the spigot and record the reading from the pressure gauge. Because water pressure can vary with usage, time of day, and the height of a building, it may be necessary to measure it two or three times. Normal household water pressure is between 30 and 80 PSI. IF the average reading is below 40, you have weak water pressure.

A slab leak occurs when water leaks underneath the foundation of a home. Leaks can come from water lines or sewage lines, and can be very costly to repair.

Finding a slab leak is often the result of several different things that may have happened. Wet spots appearing in flooring or carpet, a significant increase in water or sewer bills, and water pressure reduction are just a few of the ways slab leaks can be detected. Once the problem is determined to be a slab leak, there are several ways to go about repairing the problem.

You can hire professionals to repair the slab or you can tackle the problem yourself. If you attempt to fix the problem yourself, there are several steps to take in the process of getting the leak fixed correctly.

• First, remove the flooring in the area of the leak. Carpet, tile, hardwood or vinyl flooring needs to be cut in an area larger than the wet
spot.

• Next, cut the foundation around the edges of the slab leak with the proper tools. Remove the cut concrete to expose the dirt.

• Once exposed, dig down in the dirt until the problem pipe is clear of dirt.

• Repair the leaky pipe in the area and test to ensure that it does not leak anymore.

• Refill with dirt and wet concrete. Let dry.

• Repair the floor and install new carpet, tile, hardwood, or vinyl to the original area.

This process may seem simple, but trained professionals may be necessary depending on your level of home-repair skill. You could also perform a portion of the work yourself and have the professionals come to cut the slab and repair the leak. This could save you some money. Then you could refill the hole with dirt and concrete. Once dry, you could repair the floor yourself also. Either way there are several options on how to fix this issue.

A dishwasher is an appliance that many of us take for granted. When it starts to act up, many of us don't want to revert back to washing the dishes by hand. Not only does washing dishes by hand take an eternity to do, it really can't get the dishes as clean as a dishwasher can. If your dishwasher has been acting up lately, you may be wondering when it's time to call in the professionals to get it working at 100 percent again.

Listed below are three common issues that people face when owning a dishwasher. If you have any of these issues, it may be time to call that plumber.

Draining Issues: Since a dishwasher has to fill up with water in order to was the dishes properly, that water is going to have to drain afterwards. If you're finding that the dishwasher either doesn't drain or it doesn't fill up with water, there could be a problem with the water supply line. This line could either be damaged or clogged and because of this, the dishwasher won't function properly.

Heating: Most dishwashers today have a function that heats up the water during the washing cycle. If this water doesn't get hot enough during the cycle, most of the residue will still be stuck to the dishes. This problem can often be lead to either a mechanical issue or even a water supply line problem. If you think that the water isn't warm enough, simply wave your hand around the dishwasher vent during a cycle to see if hot air is coming out.

Wiring Connection Issues: One of the most common problems that a dishwasher has is wiring issues. Pull your dishwasher out, and inspect the wiring behind your dishwasher. While doing this, always make sure that you stay safe and never ever touch the wires. Look for any burns or breaks in the wires. This type of problem can often lead to the dishwasher not turning on or not responding to problems.

These are three fairly popular symptoms that many dishwasher owners come across. If you feel that you have one of these problems, it's best to call in a plumber that can assist you with the issue. Most of these house calls are not only going to be reasonably priced, it's going to increase the longevity of the dishwasher since it will be functioning the way it should be.

Comparing a traditional tank style water heater side by side to a tankless model the most obvious difference is size and most will view the tank filled with hot water as an advantage, it's not. The tank demonstrates your source of hot water is limited to the amount of water the tank can hold. Before you can access more hot water you have to wait for the tank to refill and the new water to reach the desired temperature. With the tankless style heaters the water is heated as it flows through the unit, there's no limit and no need to wait for the water reach the temperature you want. Virtually unlimited hot water is a luxury everyone can enjoy.

Another disadvantage of the tank style heaters is the fact it takes up so much room which is why many are located in unused corners of the basement or in a special cabinet that has room for just the heater. The smaller footprint of the tankless models allows the homeowner to use the previously wasted space.

Water stored in the tank also creates another problem, the build up of minerals in the water that eventually lead to the failure of the water heater. The generally accepted lifespan of a tank style heater is generally accepted as being 10 years, while the tankless models enjoy 20 years or longer. The energy costs of using a tank style heater are also much higher if you consider it tanks energy to heat the water initially and then keep the water at the desired temperature while it's being stored. The tankless heaters only heat water when you need it, when there is no water being demanded, the unit it off and not using any energy which saves you a significant amount of money every year.

From a safety standpoint the tankless heaters which control the water temperature while dispensing the hot water are able to control the actual temperature of the water being dispensed to a higher degree than tank heaters. The temperature of water stored in tanks varies to a higher degree and poses a greater risk of scalding the consumer.

Tankless heaters are the clear winner in all categories, providing consumers with an efficient economical way to provide hot water to their household.

Are your bathroom fixtures looking old and outdated, and you are thinking about upgrading your bathroom fixtures? If so, there are several ways to go about making your bathroom fixtures look more modern. Some of the ways to update your bathroom fixtures include adding a different bathroom faucet, adding new lighting or changing the bathroom accessories.
New Tile
Replace the vinyl tub liner, and add travertine tile in the shower as this will give the bathroom a more expensive look. If you do not want to invest in travertine tile, consider hiring a professional tile refinisher to refinish your old bathroom tiles. Since, this might be a less expensive option than using travertine tile. Of course, the cost depends on your geographic location and other factors.
Bathroom Mirror
A plain bathroom mirror can be updated easily even for an inexperience do-it-yourselfer. Since, you can simple buy some molding at your neighborhood home center and add it to the mirror. If you hate the thought of mitering the corners, simple buy decorative wood pieces such as rosettes and glue to the corner of the mirror.
Faucet
When it comes to faucets, the choice selection can be overwhelming because of the vast array of choices available. Thus, it is a good idea to determine the look you want to achieve in advance, as this makes it easier to make your selection. One popular choice to consider includes solid brass for its longevity and ease of maintenance. It can also withstand corrosion cause by hard water stains. Before you choose your faucet, check to see if the faucet manufacturer has a lifetime warranty. The best faucet selection is one that looks good, is affordable and a lifetime warranty.
Inexpensive Accessories
Add new lighting fixtures in either brushed steel or bronze for a contemporary modern design. When you change the lighting also change out the towel racks and the vanity knobs, these small changes do not cost much, but the impact they provide is tremendous. Add floating shelves to the bathroom to get more storage and keep your bathroom clutter free is also another option.

One of the biggest investments that most individuals are likely to make in their lifetimes is purchasing a home. A home is regarding as a great investment. It is where the home owner and their family will live for a long time. Having plumbing that is in good working order within the home is of utmost important.

Good plumbing system is an essential and integral part of any home. It delivers clean water and gets rid of dirty water. It also delivers hot water to the shower, water for the lawn and garden as well as clean water to the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. This is the basic purpose of any good plumbing system. Deliver clean water to and around the home, and get rid of waste water.

A good home plumbing system inspection needs to be organized by a professional firm with qualified plumbing technicians or plumbing inspection specialist. These professionals will check out the entire home plumbing system. It is possible that any faults in the system will be detected and these can be fixed. While plumbing may cost a home owner a couple of hundred dollars, it may end up saving them not just thousands of dollars, but may save their health and home too.

A home plumbing inspection may detect an invisible leak concealed behind the walls. It may also save the home from disasters such s a blocked sewer, which could result in flooding caused by the blocked sewer system. A leaking pipe may result in a burst pipe which may flood the entire home and cost thousands of dollars in repairs and damages. Problems with poor ventilation like the bathroom may result in accumulation of methane gas from the toilet, if the plumbing and ventilation are not properly set. The accumulated methane gas is definitely harmful to the entire family.

Proper plumbing inspection should be organized for residential as well as commercial property. This is very important so as to ensure the safety of tenants and other users or visitors to the property. A good inspection will check that all shut-off valves are in great working order. Those that need changing or replacement are then replaced as required. After a major renovation, such as installation of a hot water system or replacement of the unit, it is important that a thorough inspection of the entire plumbing system is important. This is important because it will expose any problems and provide an opportunity to fix these problems before they escalate and get worse.

If it becomes necessary to turn off the main household valve, it is important to find the circuit breaker and disable that, as well as turning off the gas supply to the hot water heater, if the hot water heater is a gas appliance. This should keep the hot water heater from overheating, avoiding possible injury.

If an appliance is leaking, check the filter to make sure it isn’t clogged first, then if it still leaks, a professional repair person or plumber will need to be called. If you have pipes that are leaking, a temporary solution can be to cover the leaky spot with electrical tape, but this is only a temporary measure to be used until a professional plumber can repair or replace the pipes.

A pail of some sort should always be placed underneath pipes that are leaking, to avoid damage to flooring or other surfaces, until a professional plumber can come out to fix the leak. The affected pipe or pipes will probably need to be replaced, and should always be done by a professional.

Other plumbing emergencies are clogged drains and toilets. A plungers can be tried to loosen or remove the clog, but if that doesn’t work, it’s important to call a plumber to fix the problem. If you try to put anything down the drain, such as a snake device, damage can be done that will be very expensive to repair.

Also, drain opener should never be put into a totally clogged drain, it can mix with the water and create a solution that is corrosive and harmful to your pipes. Calling a plumber is usually the wise thing to do to avoid costly serious damage to fixtures.

If pipes are leaking and are located inside of a wall, or in the ceiling or floor, the home’s main water shut off valve should be turned off and a plumber called as soon as possible. This is important to avoid water damage, such as water spots on walls, or even flooding.

The bathroom is the most high traffic areas in any household. We spend hours a day tending to ourselves in this room cleaning up and taking care of any needs. When you have a large family, this is even more so true. Each bathroom has individual needs for different reasons. This makes is especially important to make sure that you have the right bathroom fixtures that are not only practical, but convenient as well.

Toilets, shower, sinks, and tubs are some of the most common bathroom fixtures. The following things should be considered in purchasing the right fixtures for your home.

Making sure you keep money in your pocket. Budget is absolutely the most important factor when shopping for a bathroom fixture. Budget makes it easier in eliminating anything out of your price range, thus making fixture selection a much more stress-free ordeal.

Deciding on a what style or theme you want. New design trends emerge every day, and bathroom fixtures are no exception. While white was the tradition style, stainless steal and other metallic colors have become all the rage for homeowners. There are colors to match any style and personality. Different styles are also available for tubs, sinks, and other fixtures. Claw foot tubs are offered for a traditional, romantic look. While you can get a multi-head shower with a stainless steal finish for a more modern and chic look. Different color combinations also leave lots of room for a beautiful theme.

How many people will be using this bathroom? As mentioned before, traffic is one of the most important factors in choosing your fixtures. Your family may require more than one sink, a shower that allows for easy access, or a toilet that has a higher power for flushing.

Fixtures in the bathroom play an extremely important role in our everyday lives. It’s no secret that each family has separate needs when it comes to this room. If you have 5 kids, your requirements for a bathroom are obviously going to be completely different from an individual living on their own. A trip to your local showroom and some help from the employees will help you to decide what is best. Asking questions is a definite must. When making a large investment such as this, you want to be completely confident and comfortable that this is exactly what you want and will fit any unique needs that your family has.
